Saskatchewan invites 496 candidates in PNP draw

Saskatchewan held a draw on August 19, and invited 496 immigration candidates through two immigration programs to apply for provincial nomination for permanent residence.

The two immigration programs are subcategories under the International Skilled Worker category. These are the Express Entry subcategory and the Occupations In-Demand subcategory.

The Saskatchewan PNP is officially called Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP).

Of those invited, 161 immigration candidates were invited through the Express Entry subcategory, and 335 were invited through the Occupations In-Demand subcategory.

Candidates who were invited to apply through the Express Entry subcategory needed to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile, and have a score of at least 71 EOI points. These candidates needed to have work experience in one of 43 in-demand occupations.

Those invited through the Occupations In-Demand subcategory needed to have a score of 70 EOI points. They must have had work experience in one of 61 in-demand occupations.

All of these occupations are listed on this government webpage.

Candidates also needed to get an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) to show that their foreign credential is comparable to a Canadian one.

What is the EOI system?

Saskatchewan is one of many provinces that uses the EOI system to select immigration candidates who will most likely succeed in the province's labour market.

If you want to immigrate to Saskatchewan, you must first create an EOI profile. Based on the information you provide on your profile, you will be given a point score. This score is based on multiple factors such as your work experience, education, language ability, age and your connections to the province.

Connections to the province include having a job offer, or having a relative living in Saskatchewan.

Your point score is out of 100, and will be according to the International Skilled Worker Points Assessment Grid. The highest scoring candidates are invited to apply for a provincial nomination during SINP draws.

Saskatchewan Express Entry sub-category

Canada uses the Express Entry system to manage permanent residence applications through the three main economic class immigration programs:

Many provinces like Saskatchewan, have provincial streams that are aligned with Express Entry. In Saskatchewan, the Express Entry sub-category under the Saskatchewan International Skilled Worker category is an example of such a stream.

If you have an Express Entry profile and you're interested in immigrating to Saskatchewan, this sub-category is a good option.

In the latest draw, candidates who are in the Express Entry pool, who completed an EOI, and scored at least 71 on Saskatchewan's Points Assessment Grid, were invited in the latest draw.

Express Entry candidates who get nominated from a Canadian province are given an extra 600 points toward their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. This means that they will receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence in a subsequent Express Entry draw.

Saskatchewan Occupations In-Demand sub-category

During the latest draw, Saskatchewan invited 335 candidates under the Occupations In-Demand sub-category. You do not need to have an Express Entry profile to be eligible for this sub-category.

If you have work experience in an in-demand occupation in Saskatchewan, then this sub-category is for you.

You don't need to have a job offer to be eligible. You are required to create an EOI profile through the province's online application system.

Those who completed an EOI and meet the minimum requirements and have scored at least 70 on the Points Assessment Grid, were invited in this draw.
